Meet East Coast Surf School co-owner Nico Manos. Nico is the first professional surfer from Nova Scotia. After surfing all over the world he chose Lawrencetown Beach to continue sharing his passion for surfing.
Nico has taught thousands of beginners to surf over the past decade and has brought together some of the finest surf instructors on the East Coast. He is also the coach of the Canadian Junior Surf Team.
Over the years Nico has received wide recognition in countless surfing magazines. He has also been recognized in a bunch of main stream media including The Wall Street Journal and Maclean’s.
Nico is at the beach sun-up to sundown, 7 days a week.
Aaron actually learned to surf at the East Coast Surf School 8 years ago! He's one of the best young surfers in the province and has become one of our most knowledgeable instructors. He is currently studying Bio-psych with the end goal being med school.
Jill Manos is one of the best female surfers in the country. Her surf style is elegant and technically phenomenal. She spends a lot of time fine-tuning teaching techniques with EC Surf School staff.
An outdoor enthusiast and generally stoked dude, Chaz has been with the ECSS team since 2018. Chaz grew up surfing in the Lawrencetown area and is a wealth of knowledge. When there’s no surf you can find him skiing, fly fishing or playing music.
Ben acquired a taste for surfing on the south shore of Nova Scotia. As one of our most experienced surf instructors Ben designed the curriculum for our kids surf lessons and annual summer youth surf camp.
Tired of working at a desk, Ness abandoned her career in marketing and joined our team in 2021! Ness is back as a part time surf instructor and definitely not missing the office job!
After completing a cross Canada adventure to Nova Scotia from BC, Solana Joined our team in July 2022. Solana is an experienced and well travelled surfer, she brings unrivalled levels of positivity and enthusiasm to the surf school.
A fantastic addition to our team for this year. Elliot is an avid surfer and alpine skier. If your visiting Nova Scotia he’s sure to get you up and riding in no time. An absolute gem with beginner to advanced students.
Growing up behind the beach, with a brother and two parents who surfed, it was inevitable Zach would become a surfer. Zach started as a “wetsuit washer” but his charismatic personality and intuitive understanding of surfing quickly found him a position as one of our most popular instructors.
Regan is a talented young surfer from Lawrencetown Beach. She attended the Canadian Surfing Nationals in 2021 and is sponsored by Lawrencetown Surf Co. Regan loves the beach and is full of smiles and good pointers!
